Service Worker II
Your Opportunity:
As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for the safe handling and transportation of endoscopes following all related standard operating procedures for high level disinfected medical devices and contaminated equipment to and from procedure rooms to the Medical Device Reprocessing Area (MDRA). In addition, you will be required to safely distribute clean consumable supplies back to all the assigned reprocessing areas and patient theaters. You will be required to work with other Service Workers, Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians, Working Leader and Endoscopy medical professionals and patients. The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day theater set up, changeovers, and closing process for the Endoscopy suite. Tasks include but are not limited to the transportation of medical instruments, theater stocking, set up of scope towers, testing all scope functions before patient procedures, pre cleaning of contaminated scopes, and continuous stocking of nine busy theaters. In general, SWII will perform pre-assigned departmental duties and other duties as assigned by the Working Leader or Supervisors.
Description:
As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for readying supplies, and cleaning/disinfecting instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use/reuse by healthcare staff. You will distribute and replenish patient care supplies, perform quality control tests on equipment and record maintenance data. You may also transport patients (clients/residents), equipment, lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. In addition, you will ensure that patient care areas and other assigned areas are accurately stocked and that specialty equipment required by the healthcare staff is available.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of Infection Prevention Control practices would be an asset to this role as well as the proper knowledge of the approved donning and doffing practices of personal protective equipment. Understanding the general functions of the Medical Device Reprocessing Area (MDRA) and the Endoscopy Suite would be of benefit to the candidate. Previous experience within the OR, Endoscopy or MDRA is preferred. Employees will need to lift 1 to 10kg frequently and up to 12kg infrequently. Required to stand and or walk continuously throughout shift. There is handling of surgical instruments contaminated with blood, body fluids and fecal matter. Exposure to isolation patient rooms. High stress environment requiring the ability to prioritize workload on a continuous basis.
