Service Worker II
Your Opportunity:
The Service Worker is a member of the multidisciplinary team caring for pediatric patients, their families and/or caregivers. The Service Worker will report to the manager of the Stollery Day Ward, but when required, support will be provided to other areas within the Stollery Operative Services including; Stollery Day Ward, Pediatric Preadmission Clinic, Same Day Admit unit, Booking Office, Pediatric Post Anesthetic Care Unit, Stollery Operating Room, Pediatric Surgical Clinic and Pediatric Surgical Inpatient unit. The Service Worker provides support and assistance to the multidisciplinary team while recognizing the value of and working within a Family Centered Care Philosophy. The Service Worker works in accordance to the policies and procedures of the UAH and Stollery Children's Hospital. Duties include but not limited to the following: Cleaning and maintenance of equipment including stretchers, wheelchairs, IV poles and pumps, and other related equipment required for patient care. Transporting patients, supplies, and equipment to and from other areas of the hospital. Restocking and monitoring the inventory of supplies and equipment.
Description:
As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for readying supplies, and cleaning/disinfecting instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use/reuse by healthcare staff. You will distribute and replenish patient care supplies, perform quality control tests on equipment and record maintenance data. You may also transport patients (clients/residents), equipment, lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. In addition, you will ensure that patient care areas and other assigned areas are accurately stocked and that specialty equipment required by the healthcare staff is available.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. Must possess the ability to work in a team environment to ensure work is completed quickly and efficiently with minimal supervision. Must display a positive attitude with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with every member of the team. Must be reliable and dependable. Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment. Must be capable of performing heavy duties including pushing, pulling and lifting.
