Service Worker I
Your Opportunity:
This Service Worker I position supports the busy and dynamic Diagnostic Imaging Department at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. The primary responsibility of this role is to transport inpatients to and from their diagnostic imaging examinations. In addition, service workers are responsible for delivering samples collected within Diagnostic Imaging to the laboratory. This position requires close collaboration and effective communication with technical staff, nurses, and patients. Diagnostic Imaging at MHRH functions as a highly collaborative team, with this role serving as an integral part of its overall success.
Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Previous experience as a Service Worker or working with patients directly is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. A positive attitude and a consistent commitment to professionalism when interacting with patients, physicians, and staff is required. Proven ability to assume responsibility and work effectively both independently and as part of a team is required. Strong time management and organizational skills are necessary, along with the ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience as a Diagnostic Imaging Service Worker is preferred. Experience and training with Connect Care are considered an asset. Current completion of Alberta Health Services (AHS) required organizational learning requirements is preferred, along with any applicable additional courses.
