As a Service Worker I within the Labour & Delivery unit at Sturgeon Community Hospital, you will play a vital supporting role in ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients, families, and the healthcare team. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will contribute to the overall patient experience during a significant and sensitive time in care. Key responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and organization of patient care areas, stocking supplies, transporting equipment, and supporting staff with non-clinical tasks to ensure smooth unit operations. You will also assist with preparing rooms for admissions and deliveries, responding to the dynamic needs of the unit, and adhering to infection prevention and safety standards. This position requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally dynamic environment. Compassion, respect, and professionalism are essential, as you will interact with patients and families during important life events. Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. Current CPR. Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs multiple times per shift. Strong organizational skills with a high degree of motivation and initiative. Effective communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous training or recent experience as a Service Worker in a hospital or healthcare setting.
