Service Worker I
Your Opportunity:
The Service worker will assist nursing staff in maintaining a hygienic, well-equipped and safe patient care environment. The successful candidate must be flexible and capable of working independently. Able to prioritize, work and cope with frequent interruptions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: preparing and cleaning clinic rooms, assisting patients to clinic rooms, restocking all bedside supplies, transporting equipment off the unit as needed as well as working closely with MDRD ensuring no equipment is misplaced and accounted for, as well as performing other duties as assigned. Service workers’ duties will vary depending upon the unit, or program/department they work for, but may include the following: Portering patients to and from different units. Cleaning and disinfecting patient use items and equipment. Transporting lab specimens, blood, and blood products. Ensuring that multi-purpose examining rooms, and entire units are properly and fully stocked with instruments, equipment and other supplies.
Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 20lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience as a Service worker in a hospital setting. Basic computer proficiency is an asset. Valid WHMIS certification. Trained in the “Move Safe” ergonomic program.
