This position will be accountable for performing a variety of tasks to ensure a quality patient, resident, and visitor experience. You possess strong customer service, teamwork, the ability to work alone, and prioritizing skills. The successful candidate also has a patient-first approach and is able to follow oral and written instructions. Motor coordination and hand-eye coordination are needed, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment which may be stressful at times. As this position requires a lot of walking and standing, it’s a perfect way to get your steps in, keep your cardio up, and keep in shape while greatly helping Albertans and your healthcare system!
Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Strong communication and collaboration skills within a highly complex interdisciplinary team. Problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and sound judgment. Time management skills. Adaptability in a rapidly moving environment. Comfortable working around patients in varying conditions, including trauma and emergency presentations. Able to follow detailed stocking, infection control, and safety procedures consistently. This position works a regular rotation of shifts with these working hours: 9:45am-5pm and 4:45pm-12am. Successful candidate must be available to work this regular rotation of shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with hospital layouts, supply systems, and central processing. Basic knowledge of medical supplies and equipment, including IV supplies, carts, and isolation equipment. Experience in a fast-paced or high-acuity setting such as emergency, acute care, or long-term care. WHMIS certification is an asset. Basic computer skills, including Connect Care experience. Move Safe and It’s Your Move training are assets.
