Your Opportunity:

Under supervision, routine duties including but not limited to, distribution and stocking of supplies and equipment within the nursing unit in accordance with established work methods and procedures. Contributes towards the service to patients through maintenance of patient supplies and equipment.

Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be able to read, speak and thoroughly comprehend English. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Must be reliable, flexible, and well organized. Ability to work cooperatively with others in a tactful and friendly manner and respect confidentiality. Must be able to accept supervision and to follow instructions but to also demonstrate initiative. Must be able to walk long distances.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience related to hospital supplies, equipment, and linen are an asset. Previous Service Aide/Service Worker experience preferred.
