If so, an exciting opportunity awaits you at the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI) as a Service Worker I (SW I). As a valued member of our dynamic team, the SW I plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-focused care. Under the supervision of the Unit Manager, you will work closely with the health care team to maintain smooth operations across departments. This position requires excellent communication skills and physical agility to respond promptly and safely to patient transport requests while supporting overall unit functionality. Responsibilities include patient transfers, cleaning and sanitizing patient areas, restocking supplies, tracking equipment, and preparing rooms for admissions and discharges. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative in supporting the unit to improve workflow. Every task contributes to creating a hygienic, well-equipped, and safe environment that staff and patients can trust. Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Recent experience working in an acute care setting within the past two years. Demonstrated proficiency in “It’s Your Move,” “Move Safe,” and WHMIS training. Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including walking long distances, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting a minimum of 25 kg. Strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure safe patient/family care and effective interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to assist with safe patient transfers. Capacity to work in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment with frequent interruptions and distractions. High degree of professionalism with strong time management and prioritization skills, and proven ability to function effectively within a dynamic team environment. Solid understanding of infection prevention and control practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth. Experience with Connect Care using a Rover.
