Your Opportunity:

The Sheldon Chumir Health Centre, located in downtown Calgary, offers a wide range of services including urgent care, mental health, public health, home care, specialty clinics and community outreach. The Urgent Care Centre (UCC) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provides care for unscheduled health conditions to a diverse population, as part of an integrated community service delivery model. The Service Worker provides support for nurses and physicians in the department - receives, monitors, and maintains supplies in department (supply carts, bedside stock, supply trays, linen, BP cuffs, cleaning of wheelchairs, etc.) Position works solely out of the UCC.

Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current BLS certification is required. Knowledge of medical terminology/equipment required. Ability to work in a highly stressful, dynamic environment required. Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Excellent communication skills required. Able to work independently and collaboratively is required. Able to prioritize work and cope with frequent interruptions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current First Aid certification preferred. Recent experience working in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care Centre preferred. At least two years working in an acute care setting as a Service Worker I preferred. Health Care Aide certification preferred.
