Your Opportunity:

The Service Worker I is a member of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for assisting with patient flow and Technologist/Sonographer workflow in Diagnostic Imaging, ensuring that the service is delivered in an efficient, effective, and safe manner. The incumbent may assist with movement of portable imaging equipment within the site and may support some daily equipment start up and calibration. The incumbent monitor’s inventory supplies in the work areas and may order supplies as required. They will assist with patient transfers and provide limited monitoring of patients waiting in DI areas. These services are provided under supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Diagnostic Imaging Technologist or Sonographer in accordance with their designated colleges’ supervision guidelines. The type of supervision required (direct or indirect) will depend on the complexity of the task or procedure being assigned, the stability of the patient and the skill level of the Service Worker performing the task. Service Workers are responsible and accountable for the tasks and support functions assigned to them, and for understanding tasks or functions they are able and not able to perform in a particular setting.

Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent required. BCLS Certification required. Minimum of one year's experience in Diagnostic Imaging preferred. Recent acute care experience preferred. Must be able to work all shifts based on operational needs. Demonstrated proficiency in Windows (Word, Excel, Internet, and Email). Excellent knowledge of the English language both written and oral. Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional image, manage stressful situations with empathy and to remain calm, courteous, sensitive, and tactful. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with patients/families, visitors, and team members. Effective time management skills Skilled at paying close attention to detail. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Walking, sitting, and/or standing for extended periods. Handling, moving, cleaning, and lifting heavy equipment, potentially awkward equipment, and patients. It’s your move training required. N95 fit testing required.
