Service Worker I
Your Opportunity:
Under supervision, the Service Worker performs a variety of duties including (but not limited to): distribution and stocking of supplies and equipment within the nursing unit in accordance with established work methods and procedures. Responsibilities include: equipment cleaning, patient portering, supply/linen management.
Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English is required. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions. This position is physically demanding, including (but not limited to) standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, carrying, twisting, bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead lifting, mobilization and repetitive movements. Demonstrated ability to walk and/or stand for long periods of time, as well as the ability to handle 21-50 pounds frequently. The Service Worker must be reliable, cooperative, and to demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team environment. The candidate must be able to accept supervision and follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of hospital equipment and procedures is preferred. Experience in a hospital environment is preferred. Computer experience is preferred. WHMIS is preferred.
