Your Opportunity:

Olds has an exciting opportunity for a part time Service Worker/Porter. As a Service Worker you will be an invaluable member of the multidisciplinary team throughout the hospital, by transporting patients, and equipment. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide support to the staff and the patients we serve. With a growing industrial base and a flourishing agricultural economy, Olds is a hidden gem located in Central Alberta, 63 km south of Red Deer on the QE II. Olds boasts several excellent recreational facilities including the Aquatic Centre, the Olds Arena, many parks and trails and the Learning Centre which houses an extensive library.

Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Physically capable of walking/standing for the entire shift and performing repetitive movements. Able to lift up to 50lbs independently or assist in lifting up to 350 lbs. as needed; ability to exert 50 lbs. push and pull force when handing patients on stretchers/beds/wheelchairs or equipment. Ability to squat, bend, reach in all directions and good hand and finger coordination to safely handle equipment. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment for long periods of time (e.g. Surgical and N95 Respiratory Masks, Eye Protection, etc.). Communicate clearly and effectively in English, including speaking, understanding, reading, and writing. Basic knowledge and operation of a computer and a smartphone.  Dependable, cooperative, customer service attitude and able to work with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications:

Previous hospital experience, knowledge of cleaning equipment is preferred. Customer service is preferred. Service Worker or Environmental Services leadership experience such as working leader, shift lead, training or equivalent preferred.  Up to date Required Learning Courses such as Move Safe ergonomic program and the It’s Your Move, WHMIS, Code Red, etc.
