Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Additional Required Qualifications:Reporting to the Unit Manager, Neonatal Intensive Care, the Service Worker is an integral member of the health care team. The Service Worker provides a clean and comfortable environment by utilizing judgement in the execution and prioritization of general housekeeping duties; linen and waste handling; portering of specimens, equipment and supplies; assisting nursing staff with general requests; cleaning of equipment such as incubators; and other related duties. Gathers equipment for nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team as required. Assists with the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. The incumbent handles a great deal of tasks that vary in importance depending on the situation and circumstances. Therefore, must constantly prioritize their workload to adjust to the environment. The workplace also changes depending on the situation. New equipment is introduced to the unit frequently and the incumbent is expected to have knowledge of the operating function to report any malfunctions and for cleaning purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Previous experience as a Service Worker in a hospital setting.
