Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Critical thinking, prioritizing requests, and scheduling time as necessary. Under supervision the employee performs routine duties including but not limited to transporting patients, supplies, waste, bio and equipment within the hospital in accordance with established work methods and procedures. Clean patient rooms, public areas and equipment within the hospital. Our goal within the Portering Department is to create the best patient experience and to ensure we follow all IPC guidelines regarding infectious diseases. The individual must have the ability to work in a team environment and or independently. You must have 1 year experience in transporting patients within a hospital setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of hospital procedures and equipment operation. Previous hospital experience is an asset. Previous related job experience. A valid WHMIS certificate is an asset. Basic computer proficiency and experience with Connect Care. Trained in the “Move Safe” ergonomic program and the “It’s Your Move” client handling program.
