Service Worker I
Your Opportunity:
Within the Women’s Health program, the Labour & Delivery unit aims to attract and retain high quality service workers who will provide excellence in customer service, teamwork and collaboration as well as workplace accountability. The Service Worker I is responsible for independently performing duties associated with the cleaning, transporting, distributing and storing of hospital and medical supplies and equipment in Labour & Delivery areas in accordance with clearly prescribed work methods and procedures. Responsibilities and duties include the collection, ordering, maintaining, washing and redistribution of a variety of hospital equipment such as glassware, instruments, and medical equipment, replenishing of linen and supplies in storage areas, patient rooms, surgical suites/recovery rooms, and triage department.
Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent (within the last year) experience working on a maternity care, OR, or MDRD setting required. Familiarity with processing of instruments and operating room stocking procedures required.
Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with obstetrical equipment and instruments preferred. Familiarity with OR instruments/suites preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced area and prioritization of tasks preferred. Ability to work independently as well as a team member preferred.
