Senior Surgical Quality Consultant
Your Opportunity:
The Surgical Quality Consultant provides senior-level leadership, project management, change management, quality improvement, clinical informatics, and business expertise to support the delivery and continuous improvement of surgical services across the corridor. The position provides strategic leadership in surgical access, wait list and wait time management, quality improvement, innovation, and service transformation. The role leads and facilitates complex, multi-site initiatives to develop, implement, standardize, monitor, and evaluate processes that improve surgical access, optimize wait list management, strengthen data quality and reporting, and improve patient outcomes. Working collaboratively with surgical and operational leadership, physicians and surgeons, clinical and administrative staff, and internal and external stakeholders, the position facilitates change, identifies improvement opportunities, and supports transformation of surgical processes and service delivery. The role applies systems thinking, project and change management, quality improvement, and clinical informatics methodologies to analyze surgical wait list and wait time data, develop reporting and performance measures, implement standardized data capture and reporting processes, and support benefits realization. The position promotes quality, safety, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement through coaching, mentorship, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement. Travel throughout the Central Corridor may be required.

Baccalaureate degree in a healthcare profession or related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Minimum 10 years of progressive, related experience, preferably within a large, complex healthcare organization, with demonstrated knowledge of surgical services and clinical/business processes. Demonstrated expertise in systems thinking, quality improvement, change and project management, clinical informatics, and leadership. Proven ability to lead complex initiatives, influence decision-making, solve problems, investigate and resolve concerns, negotiate, and manage conflict. Strong leadership, facilitation, coaching, teaching, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, surgeons, clinical and operational teams, leaders, executives, and other stakeholders. Strong critical thinking, organization, prioritization, and ability to manage multiple initiatives independently. Demonstrated ability to use data and evidence to identify improvement opportunities and facilitate change. Demonstrated adaptability, client focus, and commitment to quality, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience with Alberta Health Services, Surgical Services, or perioperative programs. Experience with surgical access, wait list/wait time management, prioritization, booking, patient flow, and standardized surgical processes, including corridor-wide or provincial initiatives. Experience leading multi-site, interdisciplinary initiatives, including strategic/business planning, implementation, performance measurement, reporting, education, and knowledge transfer. Experience working directly with physicians and surgeons and managing consultants, contractors, or complex/high-stakes stakeholder issues; willingness and ability to travel throughout the corridor.
