Senior Project Manager
Your Opportunity:
The Senior Project Managers is a senior professional reporting directly to FMC Site Executive Director. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and delivering site-wide projects, operational initiatives, and service expansion activities that support strategic and operational priorities. This role provides project leadership from planning through implementation, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational objectives. The Senior Project Manager works collaboratively with clinical and operational leaders, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate project success, operational readiness, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position is accountable for project planning, stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, logistics and space coordination, reporting, and maintaining continuity of operations while supporting high-quality patient care and service delivery in a complex healthcare environment.
Description:
The Senior Project Manager leads the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex site-wide projects, operational initiatives, and strategic priorities within a healthcare environment. This role provides expert project leadership from concept through implementation and evaluation, ensuring initiatives align with organizational goals, operational requirements, and patient care priorities. Working independently and collaboratively, the Senior Project Manager partners with clinical leaders, operational managers, physicians, executive leadership, and external stakeholders to advance projects that improve service delivery, quality, patient safety, capacity management, and operational effectiveness. The role is responsible for developing business cases, project plans, risk mitigation strategies, and evaluation frameworks while supporting stakeholder engagement and change management activities. The Senior Project Manager contributes to strategic planning, operational readiness, quality improvement, process redesign, accreditation, emergency preparedness, and innovation initiatives that enhance patient- and family-centered care. Success in this position requires strong project management expertise, analytical thinking, communication and facilitation skills, and the ability to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate brings significant experience leading complex healthcare projects and delivering measurable results in a large, dynamic healthcare organization.

Progressive experience in healthcare project management, operational planning, quality improvement, or program leadership. Strong project management, organizational, analytical, communication, facilitation, and relationship-management skills. Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence stakeholders, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Experience with strategic planning, business case development, reporting, process improvement, and operational implementation within complex healthcare environments. Knowledge of healthcare operations, patient flow, clinical workflow and space planning. Undergraduate degree in healthcare, business administration, health management, or a related field.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in health administration or business administration. This position requires regular movement throughout the site, including walking long distances between departments, clinical areas, and meeting locations. The incumbent must be able to perform occasional lifting, carrying, and moving of materials and equipment weighing up to 5 kg. The role may involve extended periods of standing, walking, and computer-based work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project Management Professional, Prosci Change Management, or other recognized project management. 5+ years of progressive experience leading complex healthcare projects, operational activations, relocations, capital projects, or service expansions. Experience within Alberta Health Services or a similarly complex healthcare organization. Experience leading quality improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
