Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) is seeking an accomplished healthcare executive to serve as Senior Operating Officer, Provincial Palliative Care, Hospice and End of Life Program and Corridor Lead. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Delivery and Operations, this role provides provincial leadership for compassionate, patient- and family-centred palliative, hospice and end-of-life services across Alberta. The Senior Operating Officer (SOO), will implement and lead an integrated provincial clinical service model, balancing consistent program standards with corridor and site-level responsiveness. Accountable for clinical operations, quality, safety, workforce planning, financial stewardship and service continuity, the role will guide 6 direct and 364 indirect reports across diverse care settings. Working in partnership with medical, clinical, operational, quality, planning, contracting and community partners, the SOO will strengthen care coordination, address emerging issues and support timely, seamless transitions for patients, residents and families. The role also serves as a Corridor Lead, providing coordination, representation and issue resolution where a provincial program does not have defined oversight. Description:

The Senior Operating Officer, Provincial Palliative Care, Hospice and End of Life Program and Corridor Lead provides executive leadership and full operational accountability for provincial palliative, hospice and end-of-life care across all corridors. The role implements a coordinated clinical service model and oversees direct service delivery, case management, care coordination, site operations, provider relationships, staffing, financial resources and regulatory compliance. The SOO works in partnership with a medical leader and leaders across Clinical Delivery and Operations. The role also collaborates closely with Transition and Navigation Services, Planning, Performance and Quality, contracting, and workforce functions to ensure services are integrated, responsive, and aligned with provincial standards. The position monitors outcomes, incidents, complaints, operational performance, and patient and family feedback. These findings are translated into corrective action, program standardization, and continuous improvement. The SOO leads 6 direct and 364 indirect reports, establishes an effective corridor-based leadership structure and advances workforce planning, recruitment, retention and professional development. The role represents ALA on executive committees and with public, private and community partners, develops provincial and national relationships and serves as Corridor Lead for coordination, representation and issue resolution where a program lacks defined oversight.
