Alberta Health Services (AHS) is offering a transformative leadership opportunity for a visionary executive to join us as Senior Operating Officer (SOO), Diagnostic Imaging Services within our Province-wide Clinical Support Services portfolio. Reporting directly to the Vice President –Clinical Support Services, and Provincial Clinical Excellence, this role is pivotal in delivering the future of diagnostic imaging in Alberta. You will be leading a high-impact portfolio, driving innovation, operational excellence, and strategic alignment with AHS’s mission to deliver world-class healthcare. As SOO, you will implement Diagnostic Imaging Alberta’s (Acute Care Alberta) strategic priorities, standards and policies for diagnostic imaging services, collaborate to influence provincial policy & standards, lead teams through complex change, and foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement. We seek an experienced executive leader with proven track record in healthcare operations, clinical services, or diagnostic imaging. Description:

The Senior Operating Officer (SOO), Diagnostic Imaging Services will be accountable for divisional objectives regarding the implementation, operationalization, management and monitoring of provincially integrated delivery of diagnostic imaging services and quality measurement programs in the most effective, leading manner. They will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leadership executives to provide leadership to and oversee diagnostic imaging services in AHS. This position will promote, foster and model an interdisciplinary, team-based approach to patient care and the coordination of care among health professionals and disciplines. In addition to collaborating with senior leaders across the health system to ensure integrated, patient-centered care, the SOO inspires and empowers a diverse workforce, managing human, financial, and physical resources in a dynamic, innovative environment. This provincial position can be located anywhere in Alberta.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of a graduate degree in health care management, business administration or a related health care field. Progressive senior leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including five (5) years’ experience in a senior management role in diagnostic imaging, clinical services or healthcare operations. The incumbent will demonstrate a clear pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience will be considered.


Additional Required Qualifications:

The SOO demonstrates comfort and competence in decision-making, coaching, teaching, and inspiring confidence in others. In addition, you show a strong ability to manage change and develop innovative solutions for complex challenges, while effectively overseeing diverse human, financial, and physical resources within a dynamic environment. In addition to utilizing skills in strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals, assessing options and implications, you are an effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing long term quality services. With your strength in fostering partnerships to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and managing within a unionized sector, the SOO is skilled in creating a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with, public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners. The position is required to abide by the highest standards of confidentiality and have a sound understanding of the principles within Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as well as the Health Information Act.


Preferred Qualifications:

Qualifications in a Diagnostic Imaging profession is preferred.
