Baccalaureate degree in a health-related field from a recognized university required. Note: A combination of education, skills and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:5 to 7 years' experience and solid knowledge in editing and writing health information in plain language Ability to write medical/clinical information in plain language for the public Experience in writing for the web Advanced knowledge of MS Word and overall understanding of MS Office Suite Strong consultation, interpersonal, consensus-building, and communication skills Experience working across disciplines and developing partnerships Ability to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team Knowledge of: Plain and inclusive language, literacy, health literacy. Readability and health literacy assessment tools. Gender/cultural neutral writing. Technical aspects of writing. Content life cycle management and associated processes.
Preferred Qualifications:Formal education and professional designation in health literacy and plain language or related field. Experience leading projects, researching and implementing best practice standards, and finding innovative solutions to how people find, understand, and use information Knowledge of: healthcare programs in Alberta, health literacy and plain language industry standards and best practices, user experience best practices, and style guides.
