Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Standards, Access and Patient flow at Acute Care Alberta, we're seeking a motivated and talented Senior Consultant to collaborate with stakeholders across the province to develop and evaluate operational flow and capacity standards, facilitate discussions on operational design, and implement strategies for optimizing and evaluating patient flow in Alberta. The Senior Consultant leads complex, high-profile initiatives that require strong relationship-building, evidence-based decision-making, and change management expertise. By leveraging data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and quality improvement methodologies, the position drives innovative strategies to strengthen access and flow within the system and align with Acute Care Alberta’s mission and strategic vision. Working independently with minimal guidance, the Senior Consultant fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring initiatives achieve intended outcomes and reflect patient- and family-centered principles. This role is critical to advancing Acute Care Alberta goals for accessibility to acute care services across Alberta. This position requires the ability to shift between high profile and complex priorities, strong relationship-building skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining a patient- and family-centered focus. This position will support the provincial integrated operations center. This position will be part of Acute Care Alberta effective April 1, 2025. Description:

This role exists to strengthen team functioning, enhance collaboration, and ensure the successful implementation of program and organizational priorities that improve access to care and patient experience. The Senior Consultant leads complex, high-profile initiatives that require strong relationship-building, evidence-based decision-making, and change management expertise. By leveraging data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and quality improvement methodologies, the position supports innovative solutions that optimize patient flow, increase access to hospital and surgical care, and align with Acute Care Alberta’s mission and strategic vision. Working independently with minimal guidance, the Senior Consultant fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring initiatives achieve intended outcomes and reflect patient- and family-centered principles. This role is critical to advancing Acute Care Alberta goals for accessible, and high-quality acute care services across Alberta. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree. Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in healthcare or related environment Proven ability in planning, implementation, and project coordination. Strong leadership skills: decision-making, coaching, teaching, conflict resolution, and team motivation. Collaborative approach with multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders. Skilled in relationship-building and fostering partnerships. Ability to manage change and promote adoption of new practices. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for complex health system flow issues. Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation). Ability to work independently in large, complex organizations. Expertise in gap analysis, problem-solving, and innovative decision-making. Advanced computer skills, including MS Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

Project Management Certification or equivalent would be beneficial. 3 to 5 years of progressive experience, ideally in healthcare operations, human services, leadership, strategy or policy development, service design, and/or implementation would be advantageous. Certification in quality improvement approaches such as AHS AIW Green belt, Lean Six Sigma, Institute for Health Improvement) Certification in change management principles such as PROSCI preferred or similar equivalent framework.
