Description:
The Senior Consultant, Strategy and Planning, brings specialized knowledge, skills, and experience in developing strategic and service plans to support Alberta’s acute care system including service reviews, redesign initiatives, and care model development. This role demonstrates strong strategic and project leadership by providing expertise in the development and implementation of coordinated, data-driven plans that align with Acute Care Alberta’s mandate. Working closely with a team of senior consultants, the Senior Consultant ensures consistency by applying standardized methodologies, frameworks, and templates to develop the plans. Respected by colleagues and supervisors, the Senior Consultant leverages their credibility to drive planning success. This role fosters collaboration by building strong, meaningful relationships with stakeholders in the acute care system and delivery partners. While maintaining a strategic focus, the Senior Consultant also manages critical requests and detailed information essential for successful project execution and tangible results. They excel in navigating shifting and ambiguous environments, prioritizing tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting with evolving timelines. Serving as a shared resource, the Senior Consultant is accessible to acute care service providers through a prioritization framework that optimizes planning resources. They support the Program Manager in strategic partnerships and coordination with Alberta Hospital and Surgical Health Services as well as provincial health agencies, and acute care service providers to ensure integrated, aligned, and effective service and capital planning. Ultimately, the Senior Consultant leads change initiatives with a particular focus on issues, needs, and leveraging best practices and innovative solutions to address complex healthcare challenges.

The successful candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare, planning, or management-related discipline and has a minimum of 5 to 7 years of management experience in a healthcare setting or a clinical role within an organization of significant size and complexity. They have proven experience in leading or guiding complex projects. Equivalencies in education and experience will be considered. The ideal candidate has a strong background in planning, analytics, evaluation, or quality improvement. Additionally, they possess strategic and project leadership skills, along with strong communication abilities, enabling them to translate complex information into clear, actionable plans.
Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred. Experience working within Alberta’s healthcare system with knowledge of provincial health priorities and policies. Specialized training in systems thinking, integrated health system and/or service planning, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, organizational design, process improvement and project management is preferred.
