Description:
The Senior Design Consultant plays a pivotal role in leading and supporting complex innovation initiatives across Alberta’s healthcare system. Reporting to the Senior Director, Quality & Safety, this role is responsible for: Change Leadership: Engaging stakeholders to co-design change strategies, assessing project scope, and recommending design thinking approaches. Process Design & Project Management: Leading multi-phase, cross-zonal projects aligned with ACA priorities. Facilitation & Consultation: Advancing dialogue among diverse stakeholders using creative facilitation methods like Liberating Structures. Design Thinking Methodology: Applying and adapting design thinking tools, testing new approaches, and evaluating impact. Communication & Relationship Management: Managing complex communications, sharing insights via social media and the Design Lab website.

Minimum of 5 years of operational management and leadership experience in a complex healthcare environment required. A combination of related experience and education may be considered. 3 years of healthcare design experience. Leadership experience would be an asset with aspirations to move toward leadership positions. Excellent facilitation and education skills. Application of design thinking tools and approaches. Prior experience with methods and techniques for engaging with people.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience with conducting design research, capturing qualitative data and analysis. Well developed verbal and written communication skills. Well developed critical thinking skills. Flexibility and the ability to adjust to changing environments or expectations. Experience with diverse computer applications and assets (e.g. Microsoft Office, Slack, Mural, Canva, Social Media Platforms).
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior work with community groups and patients is an asset. A working knowledge of quality improvement strategies an asset. Diverse work experience is an asset. Master's degree preferred in a health-related area and/or business or other equivalent preparation. Courses or certificates in design thinking, liberating structures or other innovation courses.
