Your Opportunity:
As a Senior Advisor for Data & Analytics (DnA) Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) Data Protection Team, on behalf of the DnA Repository Owners, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining DnA data protection with AHS Policy/Legislative Requirements specific to the Secondary Use of Health Information. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain DnA EDG specific standards, best practices, and controls to govern and protect DnA data assets. Your role will involve identifying, analyzing, and mitigation risks associated with data management, integrity, privacy, and security. You will provide guidance and support the business on data-related matters and work towards continuous improvement of the data governance program, with a particular focus on data classification, data protection, and data access. The repository owner is the individual(s) responsible for defining the processes and controls for the assessment, storage, security, privacy, and disposition of the information in a repository. Post-secondary degree in Information Systems, Information Management, or Privacy and Security. 9-12 years' experience working directly with the relevant health privacy legislation and security policies. Demonstrated knowledge of the Alberta Health system from an information systems perspective. Demonstrated knowledge and skills including knowledge of legislation, interpretation of health and other privacy legislation for purposes of data protection and compliance. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in information security standards and system development processes. Proven critical thinking, analytical and problem resolution skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and leadership skills and the ability to work with stakeholders from a wide variety of business backgrounds. Proven competency in developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with a variety of stakeholders in research and knowledge translation.
Additional Required Qualifications:
The position requires specialized in-depth knowledge of current privacy and security industry practices as well as a breadth of experience in privacy and security practice and leadership to ensure AHS Analytics assets within Data & Analytics are compliant to Alberta legislation such as the Health Information Act (HIA); Freedom of Information, Privacy and Protection Act (FOIPP); provincial regulations; and AHS policies as they relate to privacy and security.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. A record of managing large groups of people with diverse interests both staff and in matrix relationships and to appreciate the differences. Attention to detail and the ability to anticipate impacts from or to other programs and business areas. Significant decision support experience including experience in developing Services Frameworks. Demonstrated ability to set and accomplish objectives and effectively manage.
