Seating Technician II

In this specialized role, you'll work alongside other experienced seating technicians and a collaborative team of Therapists to assess, fabricate, and modify custom seating systems for clients with complex needs. As a Seating Technician, your day-to-day work will include hands-on appointments with patients of all ages, preparing and assembling raw materials, finishing upholstery, and maintaining clear documentation. You’ll play a key role in creating individualized seating systems that promote comfort, safety, and independence. This role requires someone who is patient-centered, detail-oriented, and highly motivated to find the best possible solution for each client. Strong creative thinking and critical problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with clinicians, clients, and fellow technicians. Description:
As the Seating Technician you will design, modify, fabricate, assemble and repair custom and commercial seating systems under the direction of the seating clinical team. You will also complete equipment/wheelchair repairs as needed and support the work of the area such as ordering equipment and supplies, equipment maintenance, keeping the area clean and completing any necessary paperwork for billing purposes.

Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year's experience in the area of seating and fabrication of custom seating.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of one year's experience in the area of seating and fabrication of custom seating. May consider equivalent fabrication experience in a shop environment that requires creative problem solving and critical analysis skills. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience and confidence using a variety of hand and power tools, including drill presses, band saws, grinders, and drills. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50lbs independently, and the ability to kneel, crouch, bend, crawl, sit, and stand for extended periods as needed for fabrication and patient care. Sewing experience with various materials is essential. Must be approved as an AADL Complex Seating Level technician or be willing to complete this certification. A strong understanding of human anatomy as it relates to seating and positioning is required, either through a recognized anatomy course or demonstrated knowledge. The role demands a creative and solution-focused mindset, with the ability to think of novel solutions when addressing complex seating challenges. The ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team is critical, requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and other documentation platforms is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:Current acknowledgment as custom seating technician with AADL. Have documented attendance at seminars, workshops and conferences related to adaptive seating. Experience with Design and artistic skills also an asset. Previous experience with computer aided design and manufacturing processes is considered an asset. Previous experience with upholstery and industrial sewing is an asset.
