Are you a passionate Respiratory Therapist with a drive for clinical excellence, mentorship, and innovation? The Stollery Children’s Hospital is seeking a dynamic Respiratory Clinical Lead to join our leadership team and help shape the future of neonatal respiratory care in the David Schiff Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (DS NICU). Reporting to the Respiratory Therapy Manager and Assistant Managers, the DS NICU Clinical Practice Lead blends direct patient care with strategic leadership, staff mentorship, program coordination, and quality improvement. This role ensures that respiratory care is delivered according to the most current, evidence-based standards in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. Key Responsibilities: Coach and mentor respiratory therapy staff and students. Identify training needs and support high-quality clinical preceptorships. Facilitate comprehensive orientation for new team members. Coordinate staff assignments and workload. Participate in charge-related duties and provide direct patient care as needed. Represent Respiratory Therapy Services on hospital and external committees. Foster collaborative relationships with Unit Managers, Patient Care Managers, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to support patient- and family-centered care. Why Join Us? Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will coordinate, monitor and assess clinical services in your assigned area. You will act as a clinical resource for daily operations, coordinating the work of therapy assessment and treatment in your service area, and assist in the development of clinical protocols. You will develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients (clients, residents) receiving advanced respiratory treatment. You will identify new equipment requirements, and establish and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials for your area. You will be responsible for respiratory equipment, including but not limited to operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance. You will participate in interprofessional patient, client or resident rounds, conferences and meetings where applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy. Successful completion of CBRC exam. Current BLS certification from the Heart and Stroke Foundation in required. Current NRP Certification required. 3+ years of recent neonatal critical care experience is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Basic computer skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment. Demonstrated ability to interact positively with staff, students, physicians, patients and visitors.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current or previous leadership experience or formal training. Charge RT experience. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities. Experience in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex clinical and operational scenarios. Neonatal Transport experience. ECMO certification.
