Respiratory Therapist II
Your Opportunity:
This advanced level Respiratory Therapist works to full scope of practice as an ACP (Alternate Care Provider) in the Sleep Centre, to enhance access to sleep disorder-breathing service in conjunction with Sleep Physicians. The Respiratory Therapist specializes in providing primary assessments, treatment evaluation; follow up care in collaboration with the sleep physician. The RRTII also provides patient reassessment of sleep disordered breathing patients and long-term care of chronic complex Sleep Disorder breathing patients. The RRT functions as a part of the inter-disciplinary health care team by coordinating patient care and related therapist with sleep physicians, psychologist, social services, provincial health programs and private health care providers.
Description:
As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will coordinate, monitor and assess clinical services in your assigned area. You will act as a clinical resource for daily operations, coordinating the work of therapy assessment and treatment in your service area, and assist in the development of clinical protocols. You will develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients (clients, residents) receiving advanced respiratory treatment. You will identify new equipment requirements, and establish and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials for your area. You will be responsible for respiratory equipment, including but not limited to operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance. You will participate in interprofessional patient, client or resident rounds, conferences and meetings where applicable.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years acute inpatient RRT experience required. Minimum 1-2 years recent experience in an outpatient clinical setting utilizing independent assessment and management of sleep disorder breathing required. Advanced knowledge of sleep disorders required Demonstrated effective patient/family teaching experience required. Experience with management of chronic complex long term PAP therapy patients required Experience with triaging referrals through a Central Access and Triage model required Non-invasive ventilation experience, in an outpatient setting with current treatment options and modalities, and troubleshooting techniques required Ability to push/pull a stretcher. Ability to lift 15 lbs. up to waist height. Ability to climb 2 flights of stairs. Ability to sit for long periods of time.
