Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CRTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 1 year of adult critical care or emergency experience within the last five (5) years. Graduation from a recognized Respiratory Therapy Program. Successful completion of the National Respiratory Certification Exam as administered by the College and Association of Respiratory Therapy (CARTA) or the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT). Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Arterial Line insertion certification. Intubation Certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Current Neonatal Resuscitation Course (NRP). Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) or current enrollment in required courses (such as: COPD educator, Asthma educator, Chronic Disease Management). Previous experience working in medicine, surgery, critical care, OR and/or pediatrics. Previous Experience with quality assurance initiatives within a department.
