Registered Psychiatric Nurse - Mental Health Liaison

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide crisis intervention, assessment, diagnostic and treatment services to adults with psychiatric disorders. Your responsibilities may also include providing treatment for adolescents and their families. Utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, you will undertake individual and group psychotherapy processes. Additional responsibilities will also include working in partnership with and providing consultation to community agencies, and physicians in the continuum of mental health care. There may be opportunity to support single-session/solution-focused work. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:This position will require the successful candidate to possess the ability to ambulate, climb stairs and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments. Experience in the mental health field is essential. A knowledge of community integration skills, computer proficiencies, and well developed written and verbal skills is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Community setting experience. Training in crisis intervention, assessment and case management skills are essential, preferably in a community setting would be an asset.
