Registered Psychiatric Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Eating Disorders Program Unit Manager, and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the nurse will act as a care provider for both inpatients and outpatients with eating disorders as well as to their families. The nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, as well as utilize the nursing process and professional knowledge in delivering compassionate and professional nursing care to the target population. The nurse will participate in the provision of education and treatment in both individual and group formats. Primary responsibilities include performing medical monitoring and assessment, meal support therapy, suicide and self-harm assessments, mental status examination, and daily mental health support. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent experience in both acute inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. 1-2 years recent experience with Eating Disorders clients/patients and their families/supports. Must have skills in psychiatric and medical assessment and crisis intervention.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in addictions. Experience dealing with the medical complications that could arise with eating disorders and ability to provide treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties and respond to medical emergencies.
