Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:A high degree of professionalism is required to perform mental health interventions in an outreach context and to ensure the AHS/RCMP Memorandum of Agreement is upheld. The nurse will respect the Memorandum of Agreement between AHS/RCMP and ensures that the nurse’s behavior does not violate the agreement or place the nurse’s Enhanced Security Clearance at risk (i.e., significantly blurring boundaries between clinical and healthcare roles, undeclared conflicts of interest, criminal behavior, breaching confidentiality of RCMP information). The nurse must have 2 + years' experience in providing services to the hard to serve population who suffer from severe mental illness and psychosocial problems in the community, including homelessness; social isolation; marginalization; and often encounter significant barriers to accessing mental health and medical services. Good interpersonal skills, flexibility, and an ability to work independently are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:A good working knowledge of community agencies and programs is an asset.
