Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Training in crisis intervention, assessment, and case management skills. Courses/training/certification relevant to the hiring area (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Risk Assessments, etc.). Psychosocial Intervention Authorization is required. Minimum of 3-5 years of Mental Health experience in comprehensive Mental Health Risk and Assessment. Solid knowledge foundation of intervention and treatment modalities relevant to clinical disorders and psychosocial and environmental problems. Solid knowledge foundation of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). Comprehensive knowledge regarding psychotropic medication. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant community resources and legislation. Strong Mental Health assessment, crisis management, and counselling skills. High degree of creativity and flexibility as well as the ability to work independently and to engage and work with a diverse patient population. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally, and in writing. High level of interpersonal skills. Ability to set priorities and organize time effectively. Ability to work in stressful, demanding, and changing conditions. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a center-wide multidisciplinary team. As an active and supportive team member, you have excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

Equivalent relevant education and experience will be considered. Corrections experience is an asset. Group facilitation is an asset.
