Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Mental health nursing experience is required. Basic computer and email skills required. Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational and assessment skills. Strong verbal communication skills (English language proficiency is required). Congruent non-verbal communication skills. Active listening skills. Demonstrated ability to practice in a recovery oriented and trauma informed manner. Working knowledge of patient and family centered are principles. Ability to work independently while maintain collaboration with team members. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with the interdisciplinary team. Ability to adapt quickly is needed. Accountability, critical thinking, time management and communication skills are important.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working with clients with intellectual disability. General understanding of behavioral modification. Experience working within the CoACT framework is preferred. Charge Nurse experience is preferred.
