Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Qualifications:3 years’ experience within the last 5 years in acute medical/cardiovascular nursing is required. Cardiac Dysrhythmia interpretation is required. Ability to work within the full scope of an RN. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Ability to assist with communication/ implementation of initiatives. Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a stressful multidisciplinary environment. Ability to be self-directed and exercises independent decision making, nursing judgment and critical thinking skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team. Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. Actively integrates patient and family centered care principles within own nursing practice. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic knowledge of computers and software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office). Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies. Demonstrates behaviours consistent with the values of AHS.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM), Clinibase, Netcare, and Metavision are preferred. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is preferred. Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting.
