Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered please attach a resume and cover letter with your application. The ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. The candidate must be able to work within a team environment and to effectively contribute to patient/client planning processes. Excellent communication skills, a compassionate and caring attitude, and attention to detail are necessary. Strong interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills are needed. Minimum two years' experience on an Ortho unit in an acute care hospital. Connect Care training, including on-line modules, classroom training and orientation required with preference given to candidates with greater than 1 year experience. The RN must be able to work in a fast paced, physically demanding environment, including standing, walking, lifting, pushing/pulling greater 25-50lbs, as well as reaching for patients who range from low to high BMI. Must not have any current activity restrictions, such as pulling, pushing, reaching and bending.
Preferred Qualifications:Ability to communicate findings concisely, accurately, in both written and verbal form, deal with stressful situations, prioritize complex patient care needs and workload assignment, while dealing with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated initiative, reliability, flexibility and critical thinking. Maintain collaborative working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment. Strong patient teaching skills.
