Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Eligibility is restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program and who have not yet obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview. Additional Required Qualifications:Recent (within the last year) nursing final preceptorship experience in Emergency Department or Urgent Care settings. Ability to work in a stressful, rapid paced, dynamic environment required. Demonstrated critical thinking skills, including clinical judgment and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal & communication skills required. Ability to work independently and interdependently. Demonstrated strength in developing collaborative, effective working relationships with clients of cultural diversity and socio-economic diversity. Ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds, bend, reach, stand for long periods of time and work in confined/awkward spaces.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience as an Undergraduate Nurse in an acute care setting and/or 2 recent clinical rotations in an acute care setting. Cardiac monitoring. Proficient in Connect Care (EPIC) ASAP. ACLS is an asset. Attach resume and cover letter. External applicants: Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector completed within 60 days.
