Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Eligibility is restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program and who have not yet obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview. Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to meet the physical demands of the unit's emergent care environment, including: Significant walking and standing. Seated work requiring substantial arm and/or leg force. Regular handling of weights: occasionally 51-100 lbs., frequently 21-50 lbs., and constantly 0-20 lbs. Pushing/pulling >180-250 lbs. at times.
Preferred Qualifications:Completion of a clinical preceptorship in Obstetrics at a Level II or Level III care facility. Demonstrated foundational knowledge of the antepartum period, labour and delivery process, and the immediate postpartum period. Basic knowledge of newborn assessment and breastfeeding support.
