Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Eligibility is restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program and who have not yet obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview. Additional Required Qualifications:This is an opportunity for a Graduate Nurse in the GNTPP to work in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit caring for patients following cardiac surgery, heart, lung and heart/lung transplant surgery. Applicants must demonstrate excellent assessment, documentation, clinical, organizational, and patient care skills. Applicants must have the ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner as well as strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur. The applicant must successfully complete the OPACCA program. Applicant must also successfully pass the CVICU Unit specific exam. Applicant must meet physical requirements of this role, including ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The applicant is responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.
