Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Current CRNA/CRPNA registration (including temporary permits). Not currently in a regular full-time or regular part-time position with AHS. The TGN is accountable to the public for his/her own practice, which is monitored and regulated (Province of Alberta Health Professions Act). The TGN is responsible for ensuring that their practice meets legislative requirements, the practice standards of CRNA and the code of ethics. The TGN is guided by their level of education, expertise, experience, demonstrated skill level, Alberta Health Services job description and will be mentored by the clinical guide to support their employment transition and learning opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:Graduate with a Baccalaureate of Nursing between September 2020 and September 2021 from an approved school of nursing. These positions are supernumerary in nature until such time as the TGN is determined to be ready to independently assume the full scope of RN or RPN practice or a maximum duration of 9 months. The TGN will be required to apply for available vacancy positions of no less than .5 FTE and may work as relief once they are determined to be ready to practice independently.
