Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of 1 year recent (in the last 3) community experience within ISFL, Transition Services, or Home Care. Completion 3 years recent full-time Medical / Surgical Nursing experience required. Able to work in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment with competing priorities, fixed deadlines, and frequent interruptions. Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, organizational, critical thinking and assessment skills to work with a multi-disciplinary team which includes allied health, physicians and nursing staff. Understands and is able to apply case management principles as they relate to the transition of clients through the continuum of care. Must be able to lift, bend, sit, squat, throughout shift and able walk a minimum of 3 kms per shift including stairs while carrying or pulling resource materials weighing up to 25 lbs. Able to perform physical requirements such as being on one’s feet for an extended period (walking and standing). Must be able to provide physical assistance to clients in an acute care setting and physically able to intervene to ensure client safety. Required to perform up to 4-6 hours of keyboarding and additional written documentation per shift. Requires strong computer skills and the ability to navigate and complete data entry into various software programs. Demonstrated ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Demonstrated knowledge of community resources.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Transition Services, Integrated Supportive Facility Living and/or Home Care experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of community resources. Experience with Paris, Strata Health, and Connect Care software programs are preferred.
