Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. Must be able to provide direction to other health care workers. Basic computer skills. Ability to work independently and in conjunction with other team members. Demonstrate ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workload. Demonstrate initiative, accountability, interpersonal and communication skills. Successful candidate must be able to lift 40 lbs. (18kg). Must be able to attend Hemodialysis training in Edmonton or Red Deer. Hemodialysis Training is held in Edmonton or Red Deer depending on classroom/instructor availability. The training is an intensive 4-week full time schedule with an additional 2 weeks of full-time buddy shifts. A passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during the clinical component is required to move on to 2 weeks of full-time buddy shifts. Upon successful completion of the orientation the RN will be able to proceed to the unit specific orientation – 2 weeks of buddy shifts as assigned by the Unit Manager. Upon successful completion of Orientation and buddy shifts, the candidate will be scheduled and required to attend a mandatory 1-day Post-Orientation in Edmonton or Red Deer within 3 to 4 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:1-2 years recent Med-Surgical Nursing experience. Recent Nephrology Nursing experience. Demonstrated knowledge of case management. Experience with Connect Care. Recent acute and or chronic Hemodialysis training.
