The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) works as part of the multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals. RPNs are welcome to apply. This position is responsible for the comprehensive assessment and treatment of seniors with complex mental health disorders, residing in the community. It is also responsible for the provision of education and support to clients, families/chosen support, and other involved caregivers. The position works closely with other mental health professionals, physicians, psychiatrists, home care providers, and other health care providers and community agencies to build and promote a coordinated system of care with a holistic mental health focus. This is an experienced level practice position which requires the incumbent to work independently and autonomously in a variety of clinic and community settings and draws upon a high level of personal and professional maturity. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:At least 4 years of adult mental health nursing experience and at least 1 year of geriatric mental health nursing experience within the past 5 years. At least 1 year of outreach nursing experience withing the last 5 years. Experience with diverse mental health problems common to the senior population. Knowledge of the Continuum of Care of Mental Health & Addiction services in the Calgary Zone. Knowledge of Mental Health Legislation especially related to CTO's. Knowledge of and ability to provide Mental Health Recovery Focused Care. Experience in conducting psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and medication management. Experience working in partnership with non-AHS and non-profit community agencies. Self-motivated with proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated responsible decision-making through the application of knowledge, critical thinking and sound legal and ethical judgment. Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in demanding and dynamic conditions. Excellent organizational, problem-solving and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Mental Health case management experience. Experience in mental health nursing with the senior population is an asset. Experience in an outreach position and comfort providing injections in the community. Group therapy experience is an asset. Nursing leadership experience is an asset.
