Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:RPNs – Active or Eligible Registration with CRPNA College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. Minimum of 1 year of Addictions and Mental Health experience within the last 3 years with an FTE. New grads who have completed a final preceptorship in PES will be considered. Experience working in community crisis support will also be considered. Minimum typing speed of 60 WPM and computer proficiency. Knowledge of Mental Health Act and Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone. Demonstrated organizational and clinical skills in addition to being self-directed and able to work collaboratively in a team environment required. Working Knowledge of Psychotropic medications required. Experience in administering the Mental Status examination. Experience in various risk assessment i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk. Knowledge of the addiction and mental health continuum of care. Successful candidates are required to complete a 4-week orientation. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:Nursing experience in a high intensity acute care setting. Ability to mentor and support staff an asset. Experience with Dragon Medical One Dictation an asset.
