Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Must possess strong critical thinking, assessment, communication (oral and written), organizational, problem-solving and counseling skills. Must be able to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and independently with minimal supervision. Recent nursing experience including prenatal labour & delivery, postpartum or working with young families or the pediatric population. Able to perform physical duties including moving clinical supplies to community clinics and home visits (this may involve moving up to 50 lbs. at times), service delivery (may require awkward and repetitive movements), sitting, standing and/or bending for long periods of time. Comfortable to drive in all weather conditions urban and rural.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience (within the last 5 years) working in a public health nursing unit performing duties supporting Communicable Disease Control, immunization, Healthy Beginnings. Maternal/newborn certifications such as breastfeeding courses and childbirth education.
