Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:You will be responsible for providing nursing care in the intraoperative phase. You will be responsible for both the scrub and circulating role. Strong communication and collaboration skills are important; problem-solving skills using critical thinking, time management and adaptability or imperative; leadership and conflict resolution skills are essential to this role. Completion of a perioperative nursing course is required. Equivalent OR experience will be considered. Ability to wear lead apron radiograph protection and any personal protective equipment for an extended period of time. Ability to stand scrubbed for hours to support the surgical team.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in nursing. Previous perioperative nursing experience within the last 5 years. Canadian Nurses Association Perioperative CPN(C) Certification. Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) member. Current ACLS or PALS certification. Experience using EPIC. Preceptor training experience.
