Registered Nurse - Nurse Navigator Acute Neurosciences
Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, this position provides support to the acute neurosciences' units at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. This position is responsible for coordinating care and providing system navigation for patients with an acute admission related to a brain tumor as well as other neurologic diagnoses. Responsibilities include patient and family education, coordinating referrals, supporting discharge planning and transfers of care for brain tumor patients and other neurological patients with complex disposition needs. The role requires collaboration with acute unit managers, charge nurses, nurse practitioners, neurosurgeons, and cancer care providers, inpatient care teams, and the patient and family. The incumbent will provide navigation and support to the patient and families as and coordination for the acute care unit operations teams.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Experience using EPIC (Connect Care). Acute care, neurosciences nursing - Minimum 3 years within the last 5 years. Charge nurse experience (min 1 year within the last 3 years). Demonstrated knowledge of brain tumor diagnosis and continuum of care. Demonstrated leadership in building and executing care plans for patients. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development. Ability to execute clear, concise and professional communication-verbal and written.
