Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services is currently searching for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Notifiable Disease and Outbreak program team. Reporting to the Associate Manager Provincial Notifiable Disease and Outbreak, the RN provides education, follow up, reporting, expertise and consultation relating to communicable disease control. The RN will perform duties that include: preventing infection through education and implementation of public health measures including provision of prophylaxis, investigations and reporting for both routine notifiable diseases (ND) and rare or emerging diseases (e.g., Ebola, MPox, and pandemic COVID-19), outbreak management in a variety of settings, responding to community blood and body fluid exposures and infection control breeches reported to the Medical Officer of Health, continuous active and passive monitoring and surveillance of communicable diseases in the community, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to identify barriers and issues to implementing public health recommendations, and to coordinate public health follow-up. Crucially the RN is a link between the local public health centre and the provincial CDC program. The incumbent will perform a critical role in communication, development, implementation, and evaluation of province-wide CDC immunization and ND standards and guidelines in AHS for business operations and service delivery. The RN must bring dynamic written and verbal communication skills as they frequently engage in patient interviews and remote assessments in a complex healthcare environment. The RN participates in leading change and acts as the expert resource for healthcare staff and external partners. This is a remote position that may require occasional travel into a designated CDC site depending on operational requirements.
