Registered Nurse Locum – Travel Nurse, Acute and Home Care Settings
Your Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity exists for Registered Nurses to work to full scope within their area of expertise in North Zone settings. This position will be used to fill staffing needs for: Home Care and Acute Care including emergency, acute care (OR, obstetrics, ICU/NICU, medicine, surgery, and pediatrics), continuing care, and mental health. The Registered Nurse Locum Program provides the opportunity to work in short term assignments up to full time hours. You will be responsible for the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions for a diverse patient population. You must be able to collaborate as a member of the health care team, balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, and to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment. Locum Nurses receive extra incentives: A premium payment (temporary pilot until Sept 29, 2025) of $25.00 per hour for hours worked. A payment (temporary pilot until Sept 29, 2025) of $50.00 per day during assignments outside of Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray. A daily per diem of $25.40 and meal allowance of $47.50 on all assignments. Reimbursement for travel costs/per diem expenses. Accommodations provided by AHS. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum of one year nursing experience. Experience in at least one of the following departments is required; acute care, emergency, intensive care, operating room, obstetrics, continuing care, home care, or psychiatry.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of one year of current registered nurse experience (1920 hours) in Canada within your specific area of expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in rural settings with limited resources. Charge nurse experience. Experience working as sole healthcare practitioner in a site.
