Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 6 months experience in an Urban Labour and Delivery unit within the last 5 years; or 2 years’ experience in a critical care nursing unit (i.e., ER, ICU, OR, NICU) or Rural L&D within the last 5 years; or 3 years’ experience in an Urban Post-Partum unit within the last 5 years. Successful completion of a 4th year preceptorship in an urban L&D will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Current NRP (Lessons 1-9). Current Fetal Health Surveillance. CNA Perinatal Certificate. Experience working with antepartum patients and/or postpartum families. Charge Nurse experience. Operating Room experience. Experience with the MOREob program (participant and/or instructor). Completion of AHS breastfeeding modules or IBCLC certification. Demonstrated professional development and/or participation in quality improvement initiatives.
