Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required. 5 years of recent adult and pediatric acute care nursing experience required. Home Parenteral Therapy experience, within the past 6 months, required. Experience and proficiency with ambulatory pumps is required. Current and up to date knowledge and experience in intravenous therapy is required. Extensive knowledge/skills of patient care practices (Adult and Pediatric) directly related to IV therapy, and Central Venous Access Devices is required. Basic computer skills and competence with Netcare and Connect Care are required. Demonstrates excellent organizational, decision making, teaching, time management and communication skills, reliability, and personal suitability. Proven ability to work independently as well as positively, effectively, and cooperatively within an interdisciplinary team. Must demonstrate strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills and be able to adapt in a changing work environment. Physical capability of performing all aspects of the role (bending, crouching, lifting). Must be able to withstand long periods of walking and standing as this role requires frequent patient visits to multiple units across the hospital campus. Also must be able to manually operate and program the ambulatory pumps and lift/carry patient medications and equipment up to approximately 20 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with project planning, process improvement and patient safety/quality initiatives an asset. Experience in practice standards/guidelines development and review preferred.
